Senior Madyson Lamp broke a 24 year long single-season homerun record at Hernando High School when she went yard in the first inning for her eighth on the season as the Lady Leopards defeated Hudson 9-1 in the district semifinals. Sophomore Olivia Townsend connected on her sixth homerun on the season to add insurance. Lamp, went 2-2 and added an RBI triple to go along with her 3-run blast. Freshmen Solo Genberg returned from injury going 2-4 on the night. Senior hurler Ali Shenefield had 14 strikeouts and added an RBI double at the plate.
The Lady Leopards will take on Cypress Creek tonight at Tom Varn Park at 7 PM in the championship game.
