Hernando football team came out of the gates strong and defeated Lake Weir 51-0 for their first win of the season. The Leopards had over 350 yards total offense. A running clock was started in the middle of the second quarter and the Leopards led 39-0 at half. The Leopards had seven different players scoring, including senior defensive lineman Cordell Warthern scooping up a fumble and rumbling into the endzone from 12 yards out. Fred Scrivens, Jaquan Spry (2 TD’s), Jordan Williams (2 TD’s), and Dominic Bowers scored offensively. The defense played another outstanding game limiting Lake Weir to under 50 yards of total offense and recovering three fumbles.
The Leopards return to the gridiron when they travel to Crystal River this Friday, September 13th to take on the Pirates in the district opener. The Pirates are also 1-2 on the season.
