The Hernando Football team traveled to Tarpon Springs for their first round play-off game against the Spongers and returned victorious after winning 55-14. The Leopards used an attacking defense that also put points on the boards, thanks to a fifty yard interception return by Jordan Williams, and a big play offense. Running Back Contae Cason had over 130 yards on seven carries and a 65 yard touchdown reception right before half.
The defense was led by Sam Sternberger, who led with nince tackles, including a TFL (tackle for loss). Shawn Bingham Jr. and Sam Fleming each collected a sack on the evening as the defense only allowed a long touchdown pass on the evening. Tarpon Springs other touchdown came on a fumble recovery.
Hernando will return to action next Friday for a 7:30 PM kick-off when they take on state power Jones High School oin the second round of the state play-offs. Tickets can be purchased on www.GoFan.co. Tickets are $8. Mask must be worn and there is a 25% capacity in Orange County.
