The Leopard track team did well last week at the FHSAA District meet that was held at Cypress Creeks High School. The purple and gold were led by A’Reginae White, Bri Mobley and Devin Williams as all three captured the gold in their respective events. White placed first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.56, first in the triple jump with a distance of 35.8 feet, second in the long jump with a distance of 17.5 feet. White was also a member of the 4×100 team that placed third which will advance the team to the regionals. White, Sy Crowley, Shanyea Rayford and Calvionna Haygood were the 4×100 team. The boys also finished third in the 4×100 with the team consisting of Contae Cason, Isaiah Riggins, Earsel Waddy and Justin Fabela.
The Leopards showed off their strength in the field events as Devin Williams placed first in both the shot put (45.11 feet) and discus (128.10) to capture the gold in both of his events. Bro Mobley did well for the girls, winning the discus (97.11 feet) and placing second in the shot put with a distance of 31.1 feet. Megan Volberg placed third in the discus with a throw of 75.5 feet and Amelia Bunting placed third in the shot put with a throw of 29.4 feet. Others that will be advancing to regional action will be Justin Fabela in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.83 and Earsel Waddy who got the silver with a time of 23.39 in the 200 meter dash. Any person or relay team that place in the top four will advance to regionals next week at Cypress Creek High School on Saturday, May 1st.
