GC8 Wrestling Championships Today

The Gulf Coast Eight (GC8) athletic conference wrestling championships will be held today at Hernando High School.  The tournament will start around 1 PM.  Each team will have one wrestler per class that will be able to compete for the conference championship in that class.  The conference team champion will be determined by the points

Grapplers Dominate Kiwanis Invitational

The Hernando Leopard wrestling team dominated the 38th annual Kiwanis Invitational by ending with a tournament high 305 points out of the 33 schools in attendance. Winter Springs High School finished 2nd with 225 points and Doral Academy got the bronze finishing with 192.5 points.  Hernando had twelve wrestlers place including two champions.  Josh Pritz

Purple vs. Gold Night in Wrestling

4 Wrestlers Place in State Tournament; Team 10th out of 65

Four Hernando wrestlers placed at the state wrestling tournament held in Kissimmee. Josh Pritz place 4th, Qwenton Coney placed 5th, Fernando Valdez and Bronson Tafelski placed 6th.  The team finished 10th out of 65 teams that made the wrestling tournament. Great job on a fantastic year Leopards!

Wrestlers Headed to States

Nine Hernando wrestlers will be headed to the state wrestling tournament at Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee this weekend. The following wrestlers, Bronson Tafelski, Fernando Valdez, Alex Espinal, Jonathan Britton, Michael Brown, Qwenton Coney, Billy Gould, Josh Pritz and Sam Fleming.  All the Leopards will be vying for a place on the podium. Leopard Grapplers Clip County Power Eagles 36-34

The Leopard wrestling team took down county and state power, Springstead Eagles 36-34, to close out their regular season. The Leopards finished the season 18-1.  The Leopards had all seniors gaining a victory (Bronson Tafelski, Boston Tafelski, Alex Espinal, J Lisk, Fernando Valdez), as well as underclassmen Josh Pritz and Michael Brown gaining victories. Josh Pritz and Fernando Valdez each won their weight class to lead the Leopards to claiming the Timber Creek Invitational in Orlando.  Jonathan Britton, J Lisk and Boston Tafelski placed second for the Leopards.
